Julia has completed additional training in scar tissue therapy, which can be used to break down old scar tissue, reduce adhesions and minimize the systemic effects from scars due to surgery, burns, piercings, acne and old injuries. She is also passionate about treating migraines, insomnia, cold prevention, menopause related changes, digestive disorders and pain management.
Growing up Julia participated in competitive dance and her knowledge and interest in the human body stemmed from a love of movement. She discovered Acupuncture as a way to deal with old injuries and to improve her health as a whole.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Acupuncture involves stimulating points on the body, by inserting thin needles that are manipulated by hand or sometimes by electrical stimulation. By stimulating specific anatomic sites, also called acupuncture points, acupuncture can promote self-healing.
In traditional Chinese medicine, diseases are caused by the disruption of energy in the body, and acupuncture is meant to help release that flow. Western medicine offers another explanation: the needles stimulate the nerves, which sends signals to the brain to release hormones to minimize pain.
-
Acupuncture is a very low-risk procedure, especially when compared with minimally invasive procedures for ailments such as back pain. Most people have no side effects from acupuncture. A few people feel minor soreness or bruising where needles were placed. Sterile needles prevent infection.
-
Most people feel little to no pain. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin, much finer than those used for injections, so their insertion rarely causes discomfort.
Some describe a mild tingling, warmth, or slight pressure when the needles are placed, but any sensation is typically brief and fades quickly. Many people find this practice soothing and relaxing; some even fall asleep during treatment.
If you’re sensitive to pain or nervous about needles, let your practitioner know. They can use gentler techniques or finer needles to ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible.

Yes, most insurance carriers will pay for acupuncture treatments. Because each insurance provider has different restrictions, it is best to consult with your provider to determine if your treatment will be covered.

Ear Seeds
Ear seeds, also known as auriculotherapy, are based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and are used to stimulate specific acupressure points on the ear to address various health conditions. They are small, often Vaccaria plant seeds or metal beads, that are taped to the ear and then gently massaged to activate the corresponding body parts or systems.
Shiatsu / Acupressure Massage
A Japanese bodywork therapy that uses finger pressure, along with other techniques like kneading, tapping, and stretching, to stimulate specific points on the body. It is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and aims to balance the body's energy flow (Qi) and promote overall health. Shiatsu is typically performed with the recipient fully clothed, often on a mat on the floor, and without the use of oils or lotions.
Electro-stimulation
Electrical stimulation (also known as electrotherapy) involves using electrical currents to stimulate muscles and nerves for therapeutic purposes, such as pain management, muscle strengthening, and wound healing. It works by mimicking the body's natural electrical signals to influence nerve and muscle activity.
Cupping
Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine that utilizes suction, created by placing cups on the skin, to draw blood to the surface and promote healing. This process is used to increase blood flow, reduce muscle tension, and alleviate pain by stimulating the body's natural healing response and reducing inflammation.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technique that involves burning dried mugwort (moxa) to stimulate specific points on the body, often acupuncture points. It is used to warm and invigorate the flow of qi (energy) and blood, and is used to promote healing and overall well-being.
